Access
Train to Kandersteg, gondola up (~CHF 36-40 round trip, about half that with a Half-Fare Card or Swiss Travel Pass), then a ~30 minute walk to the lake. Book a timeslot in advance, daily tickets are capped.

Where I Slept
Camped lakeside one night (people do this but it's technically illegal, at your own risk). Second night at Chalet-Hotel Adler in Kandersteg.
Tyler's Notes
Book the gondola ahead, they cap tickets and it does sell out on nice days. Get up there early if you want it to yourself before the day-trippers roll in.
